Regular attendance at school is vital for students to achieve academic milestones, develop secure friendships and learn leadership skills. It is also a legal requirement that parents and caregivers ensure their children attend school everyday.
The Te Kohanga School Board believe strongly in promoting positive attendance standards and have set a goal of 90% average attendance for all students.
Attendance is reported in fortnightly newsletters, monthly board reports and individually in end of term reports.
We have weekly certificates for 100% attendance, and a small prize of the student’s choice when they have collected three of the weekly attendance certificates.
At the end of the term, students with attendance above 90% are rewarded in an end of term assembly.
Students with ongoing attendance below 90% will be sent letters from the school and will be referred to our school Social Worker. If their attendance rates still fall below 90% they will be referred to the North Waikato Attendance Officer who will work with the family.
IF YOUR CHILD WILL BE ABSENT IN THE FUTURE OR IS SICK THE SCHOOL MUST BE NOTIFIED.
PLEASE ENSURE YOU HAVE PHONED THE SCHOOL BY 8.30AM WHEN REGISTERS ARE MARKED. 09 232 8881
