Regular attendance at school is vital for students to achieve academic milestones, develop secure friendships and learn leadership skills. It is also a legal requirement that parents and caregivers ensure their children attend school everyday.
The Te Kohanga School Board believe strongly in promoting positive attendance standards and have set a goal of 90% average attendance for all students.
Attendance is reported in monthly board reports.
Attendance is reviewed each half term and at the end of the term. Every family will receive a letter outlining the attendance rates (no matter what the attendance rate is) and acknowledging any illness that may have affected the attendance rate.
Where attendance rates are not improving for a student and the rate continues to fall under the school expectation of 90%, this may trigger intervention from our Social Worker in Schools and the local Attendance Services.
